It’s not enough to give him a morsel, “Nālaṁ kabaḷaṁ padātave, a bite, some grass, or a rubbing-down. Na ca piṇḍaṁ na kuse na ghaṁsituṁ; I think by seeing the dog often, Maññāmi abhiṇhadassanā, the elephant grew fond of him. Nāgo snehamakāsi kukkure”ti.
