Periods AddhÄsutta
This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard. VuttaƱhetaį¹ bhagavatÄ vuttamarahatÄti me sutaį¹:
āMendicants, there are these three periods. āTayome, bhikkhave, addhÄ. What three? Katame tayo? Past, future, and present. AtÄ«to addhÄ, anÄgato addhÄ, paccuppanno addhÄāThese are the three periods.ā ime kho, bhikkhave, tayo addhÄāti.
The Buddha spoke this matter. Etamatthaį¹ bhagavÄ avoca. On this it is said: Tatthetaį¹ iti vuccati:
āSentient beings who perceive the communicable, āAkkheyyasaƱƱino sattÄ, become established in the communicable. akkheyyasmiį¹ patiį¹į¹hitÄ; Not understanding the communicable, Akkheyyaį¹ apariƱƱÄya, they fall under the yoke of Death. yogamÄyanti maccuno.
But having fully understood the communicable, AkkheyyaƱca pariƱƱÄya, they donāt conceive a communicator, akkhÄtÄraį¹ na maƱƱati; as theyāve touched liberation with their mind, Phuį¹į¹ho vimokkho manasÄ, the supreme state of peace. santipadamanuttaraį¹.
Accomplished in the communicable, Sa ve akkheyyasampanno, peaceful, in love with the state of peace; santo santipade rato; making use after reflection, firm in principle, Saį¹ khÄya sevÄ« dhammaį¹į¹ho, a knowledge master cannot be reckoned.ā saį¹ khyaį¹ nopeti vedagÅ«āti.
This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard. Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatÄ, iti me sutanti.
