At Ajakalāpaka Ajakalāpakasutta

So I have heard. Evaṁ me sutaṁ—At one time the Buddha was staying in Pāvā at the Ajakalāpaka Shrine, the haunt of the native spirit Ajakalāpaka. ekaṁ samayaṁ bhagavā pāvāyaṁ viharati ajakalāpake cetiye, ajakalāpakassa yakkhassa bhavane. Now at that time the Buddha was meditating in the open during the dark of night, while a gentle rain drizzled down. Tena kho pana samayena bhagavā rattandhakāratimisāyaṁ abbhokāse nisinno hoti; devo ca ekamekaṁ phusāyati. Then Ajakalāpaka, wanting to make the Buddha feel fear, terror, and goosebumps, approached him, and while not far away yelled three times, ā€œGrr! Arrgh!ā€ Then he added, Atha kho ajakalāpako yakkho bhagavato bhayaṁ chambhitattaṁ lomahaṁsaṁ uppādetukāmo yena bhagavā tenupasaį¹…kami; upasaį¹…kamitvā bhagavato avidÅ«re tikkhattuṁ ā€œakkulo pakkuloā€ti akkulapakkulikaṁ akāsi: ā€œNow that’s a goblin for you, ascetic!ā€ ā€œeso te, samaṇa, pisācoā€ti.

Then, understanding this matter, on that occasion the Buddha expressed this heartfelt sentiment: Atha kho bhagavā etamatthaṁ viditvā tāyaṁ velāyaṁ imaṁ udānaṁ udānesi:

ā€œWhen a brahmin gets over ā€œYadā sakesu dhammesu, their own issues, pāragÅ« hoti brāhmaṇo; they transcend this goblin Atha etaṁ pisācaƱca, and his grunts.ā€ pakkulaƱcātivattatÄ«ā€ti.

Sattamaṁ.
