This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard. Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:

“There is, mendicants, freedom from rebirth, freedom from what has been produced, made, and conditioned. “Atthi, bhikkhave, ajātaṁ abhūtaṁ akataṁ asaṅkhataṁ. If there were no freedom from rebirth, freedom from what has been produced, made, and conditioned, then you would find no escape here from rebirth, from what has been produced, made, and conditioned. No cetaṁ, bhikkhave, abhavissa ajātaṁ abhūtaṁ akataṁ asaṅkhataṁ, nayidha jātassa bhūtassa katassa saṅkhatassa nissaraṇaṁ paññāyetha. But since there is freedom from rebirth, freedom from what has been produced, made, and conditioned, an escape is found from rebirth, from what has been produced, made, and conditioned.” Yasmā ca kho, bhikkhave, atthi ajātaṁ abhūtaṁ akataṁ asaṅkhataṁ, tasmā jātassa bhūtassa katassa saṅkhatassa nissaraṇaṁ paññāyatī”ti.

The Buddha spoke this matter. Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. On this it is said: Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:

“What’s reborn, produced, and arisen, “Jātaṁ bhūtaṁ samuppannaṁ, made, conditioned, not lasting, kataṁ saṅkhatamaddhuvaṁ; wrapped in old age and death, Jarāmaraṇasaṅghāṭaṁ, frail, a nest of disease, roganīḷaṁ pabhaṅguraṁ.

generated by food and the conduit to rebirth: Āhāranettippabhavaṁ, that’s not fit to delight in. nālaṁ tadabhinandituṁ; The escape from that is peaceful, Tassa nissaraṇaṁ santaṁ, beyond the scope of logic, everlasting, atakkāvacaraṁ dhuvaṁ.

where nothing is reborn or arisen, Ajātaṁ asamuppannaṁ, the sorrowless, stainless state, asokaṁ virajaṁ padaṁ; the cessation of all painful things, Nirodho dukkhadhammānaṁ, the blissful stilling of conditions.” saṅkhārūpasamo sukho”ti.

This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard. Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.
