An Unnamed Nun (2nd) Aññataratherīgāthā
In the twenty-five years “Paṇṇavīsativassāni, since I went forth yato pabbajitā ahaṁ; I have not found peace of mind, Nāccharāsaṅghātamattampi, even for as long as a finger-snap. cittassūpasamajjhagaṁ.
Failing to find peace of heart, Aladdhā cetaso santiṁ, festering with sensual desire, kāmarāgenavassutā; I cried with flailing arms Bāhā paggayha kandantī, as I entered a dwelling. vihāraṁ pāvisiṁ ahaṁ.
I approached a nun Sā bhikkhuniṁ upāgacchiṁ, in whom I had faith. yā me saddhāyikā ahu; She taught me the Dhamma: Sā me dhammamadesesi, the aggregates, sense fields, and elements. khandhāyatanadhātuyo.
When I heard her teaching, Tassā dhammaṁ suṇitvāna, I retired to a discreet place. ekamante upāvisiṁ; I know my past lives; Pubbenivāsaṁ jānāmi, my clairvoyance is purified; dibbacakkhu visodhitaṁ.
I encompass the minds of others; Cetopariccañāṇañca, my clairaudience is purified; sotadhātu visodhitā; I’ve realized the psychic powers, Iddhīpi me sacchikatā, and attained the ending of defilements. patto me āsavakkhayo; I have realized the six kinds of direct knowledge, Chaḷabhiññā sacchikatā, and fulfilled the Buddha’s instructions. kataṁ buddhassa sāsanan”ti.
