Anopamā Anopamātherīgāthā

I was born into an eminent family, “Ucce kule ahaṁ jātā, affluent and wealthy, bahuvitte mahaddhane; endowed with a beautiful complexion and figure; Vaṇṇarūpena sampannā, Majjha’s true-born daughter. dhītā majjhassa atrajā.

I was sought by princes, Patthitā rājaputtehi, coveted by sons of the wealthy. seṭṭhiputtehi gijjhitā; One sent a messenger to my father: Pitu me pesayī dūtaṁ, “Give me Anopamā! detha mayhaṁ anopamaṁ.

However much your daughter Yattakaṁ tulitā esā, Anopamā weighs, tuyhaṁ dhītā anopamā; I’ll give you eight times that Tato aṭṭhaguṇaṁ dassaṁ, in gold coin and gems.” hiraññaṁ ratanāni ca.

When I saw the Awakened One, Sāhaṁ disvāna sambuddhaṁ, the world’s Elder, unsurpassed, lokajeṭṭhaṁ anuttaraṁ; I paid homage at his feet, Tassa pādāni vanditvā, and withdrew to one side. ekamantaṁ upāvisiṁ.

Out of compassion, So me dhammamadesesi, Gotama taught me the Dhamma. anukampāya gotamo; While sitting in that seat, Nisinnā āsane tasmiṁ, I realized the third fruit. phusayiṁ tatiyaṁ phalaṁ.

Then, having shaved off my hair, Tato kesāni chetvāna, I went forth to homelessness. pabbajiṁ anagāriyaṁ; This is the seventh day Ajja me sattamī ratti, since my craving dried up. yato taṇhā visositā”ti.
