Another Sāmā Aparāsāmātherīgāthā

In the twenty-five years “Paṇṇavīsativassāni, since I went forth, yato pabbajitāya me; I don’t know that I had ever found Nābhijānāmi cittassa, serenity in my mind. samaṁ laddhaṁ kudācanaṁ.

I had failed to find peace of heart, Aladdhā cetaso santiṁ, or any control over my mind. citte avasavattinī; When I remembered the victor’s instructions, Tato saṁvegamāpādiṁ, I was struck with a sense of urgency. saritvā jinasāsanaṁ.

Though subject to so many painful things, Bahūhi dukkhadhammehi, I have, through my love of diligence, appamādaratāya me; reached the ending of craving, Taṇhakkhayo anuppatto, and fulfilled the Buddha’s instructions. kataṁ buddhassa sāsanaṁ; This is the seventh day Ajja me sattamī ratti, since my craving dried up. yato taṇhā visositā”ti.
