Fragile Bhidurasutta
This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard. VuttaƱhetaį¹ bhagavatÄ vuttamarahatÄti me sutaį¹:
āThis body is fragile, mendicants, consciousness is liable to fade away, and all attachments are impermanent, suffering, and perishable.ā āBhidurÄyaį¹, bhikkhave, kÄyo, viƱƱÄį¹aį¹ virÄgadhammaį¹, sabbe upadhÄ« aniccÄ dukkhÄ vipariį¹ÄmadhammÄāti.
The Buddha spoke this matter. Etamatthaį¹ bhagavÄ avoca. On this it is said: Tatthetaį¹ iti vuccati:
āKnowing that the body is fragile, āKÄyaƱca bhiduraṠñatvÄ, that consciousness is faded, ViƱƱÄį¹aƱca virÄgunaį¹; and seeing the danger in attachments, UpadhÄ«su bhayaį¹ disvÄ, they go beyond birth and death. JÄtimaraį¹amaccagÄ; Having attained ultimate peace, SampatvÄ paramaį¹ santiį¹, evolved, they await their time.ā KÄlaį¹ kaį¹ khati bhÄvitattoāti.
This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard. Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatÄ, iti me sutanti.
