Cālā Cālātherīgāthā

“As a nun with developed faculties, “Satiṁ upaṭṭhapetvāna, having established mindfulness, bhikkhunī bhāvitindriyā; I penetrated that peaceful state, Paṭivijjhi padaṁ santaṁ, the blissful stilling of conditions.” saṅkhārūpasamaṁ sukhaṁ”.

“In whose name did you shave your head? “Kaṁ nu uddissa muṇḍāsi, You look like an ascetic, samaṇī viya dissasi; but you don’t approve any creed. Na ca rocesi pāsaṇḍe, Why do you live as if lost?” kimidaṁ carasi momuhā”.

“Followers of other creeds “Ito bahiddhā pāsaṇḍā, rely on their views. diṭṭhiyo upanissitā; They don’t understand the Dhamma, Na te dhammaṁ vijānanti, for they’re no experts in the Dhamma. na te dhammassa kovidā.

But there is one born in the Sakyan clan, Atthi sakyakule jāto, the unrivaled Buddha; buddho appaṭipuggalo; he taught me the Dhamma So me dhammamadesesi, for going beyond views. diṭṭhīnaṁ samatikkamaṁ.

Suffering, suffering’s origin, Dukkhaṁ dukkhasamuppādaṁ, suffering’s transcendence, Dukkhassa ca atikkamaṁ; and the noble eightfold path Ariyaṁ caṭṭhaṅgikaṁ maggaṁ, that leads to the stilling of suffering. Dukkhūpasamagāminaṁ.

After hearing his words, Tassāhaṁ vacanaṁ sutvā, I happily did his bidding. vihariṁ sāsane ratā; I’ve attained the three knowledges Tisso vijjā anuppattā, and fulfilled the Buddha’s instructions. kataṁ buddhassa sāsanaṁ.

Relishing is banished in every respect, Sabbattha vihatā nandī, and the mass of darkness is shattered. tamokhandho padālito; So know this, Wicked One: Evaṁ jānāhi pāpima, you’re beaten, terminator!” nihato tvamasi antaka”.
