Candana Candanattheragāthā

Covered over with gold, “Jātarūpena sañchannā, surrounded by all her maids, dāsīgaṇapurakkhatā; with my son upon her hip, Aṅkena puttamādāya, my wife came to me. bhariyā maṁ upāgami.

I saw her coming, Tañca disvāna āyantiṁ, the mother of my son, sakaputtassa mātaraṁ; adorned with jewelry and all dressed up, Alaṅkataṁ suvasanaṁ, like a snare of death laid down. maccupāsaṁva oḍḍitaṁ.

Then the realization Tato me manasīkāro, came upon me—yoniso udapajjatha; the danger became clear, Ādīnavo pāturahu, and I was firmly disillusioned. nibbidā samatiṭṭhatha.

Then my mind was freed—Tato cittaṁ vimucci me, behold the clear rightness of the teaching! passa dhammasudhammataṁ; I’ve attained the three knowledges Tisso vijjā anuppattā, and fulfilled the Buddha’s instructions. kataṁ buddhassa sāsanan”ti.
