The Benefits of Giving Dānānisaṁsasutta
“Mendicants, there are five benefits of giving. “Pañcime, bhikkhave, dāne ānisaṁsā. What five? Katame pañca? A giver, a donor is dear and beloved by many people. Bahuno janassa piyo hoti manāpo; Good and true persons associate with them. santo sappurisā bhajanti; They get a good reputation. kalyāṇo kittisaddo abbhuggacchati; They don’t neglect a layperson’s duties. gihidhammā anapagato hoti; When their body breaks up, after death, they’re reborn in a good place, a heavenly realm. kāyassa bhedā paraṁ maraṇā sugatiṁ saggaṁ lokaṁ upapajjati. These are the five benefits of giving. Ime kho, bhikkhave, pañca dāne ānisaṁsāti.
Giving, one is loved, Dadamāno piyo hoti, and follows the way of the good. sataṁ dhammaṁ anukkamaṁ; The good, disciplined spiritual practitioners Santo naṁ sadā bhajanti, always associate with you. saññatā brahmacārayo.
They teach you the Dhamma Te tassa dhammaṁ desenti, that casts aside all suffering. Sabbadukkhāpanūdanaṁ; Having understood this teaching, Yaṁ so dhammaṁ idhaññāya, the undefiled one is fully extinguished.” Parinibbāti anāsavo”ti.
