The Ceremony of Descent (2nd) Dutiyapaccorohaṇīsutta

“Mendicants, I will teach you the noble descent. “Ariyaṁ vo, bhikkhave, paccorohaṇiṁ desessāmi. Listen and apply your mind well, I will speak. … Taṁ suṇātha … And what is the noble descent? katamā ca, bhikkhave, ariyā paccorohaṇī? It’s when a noble disciple reflects: Idha, bhikkhave, ariyasāvako iti paṭisañcikkhati: ‘Wrong view has a bad result ‘micchādiṭṭhiyā kho pāpako vipāko—in both this life and the next.’ diṭṭhe ceva dhamme abhisamparāyañcā’ti. Reflecting like this, they give up wrong view, So iti paṭisaṅkhāya micchādiṭṭhiṁ pajahati; they descend from wrong view. micchādiṭṭhiyā paccorohati. ‘Wrong thought has a bad result …’ … Micchāsaṅkappassa kho pāpako vipāko … ‘Wrong speech …’ … micchāvācāya kho … ‘Wrong action …’ … micchākammantassa kho … ‘Wrong livelihood …’ … micchāājīvassa kho … ‘Wrong effort …’ … micchāvāyāmassa kho … ‘Wrong mindfulness …’ … micchāsatiyā kho … ‘Wrong immersion …’ … micchāsamādhissa kho … ‘Wrong knowledge …’ … micchāñāṇassa kho … ‘Wrong freedom has a bad result micchāvimuttiyā kho pāpako vipāko—in both this life and the next.’ diṭṭhe ceva dhamme abhisamparāyañcāti. Reflecting like this, they give up wrong freedom, So iti paṭisaṅkhāya micchāvimuttiṁ pajahati; they descend from wrong freedom. micchāvimuttiyā paccorohati. This is called the noble descent.” Ayaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, ariyā paccorohaṇī”ti.

Aṭṭhamaṁ.
