Eight Individuals (2nd) Dutiyapuggalasutta
āMendicants, these eight individuals are worthy of offerings dedicated to the gods, worthy of hospitality, worthy of a religious donation, worthy of greeting with joined palms, and are the supreme field of merit for the world. āAį¹į¹hime, bhikkhave, puggalÄ ÄhuneyyÄ ā¦pe⦠anuttaraį¹ puƱƱakkhettaį¹ lokassa. What eight? Katame aį¹į¹ha? The stream-enterer and the one practicing to realize the fruit of stream-entry. The once-returner and the one practicing to realize the fruit of once-return. The non-returner and the one practicing to realize the fruit of non-return. The perfected one, and the one practicing for perfection. SotÄpanno, sotÄpattiphalasacchikiriyÄya paį¹ipanno ā¦pe⦠arahÄ, arahattÄya paį¹ipanno. These are the eight individuals who are worthy of offerings dedicated to the gods, worthy of hospitality, worthy of a religious donation, worthy of greeting with joined palms, and are the supreme field of merit for the world. Four practicing the path, CattÄro ca paį¹ipannÄ, and four established in the fruit. cattÄro ca phale į¹hitÄ; This is the exalted Saį¹ gha, Esa saį¹ gho samukkaį¹į¹ho, the eight individuals among sentient beings. sattÄnaį¹ aį¹į¹ha puggalÄ.
For humans, those merit-seeking creatures, YajamÄnÄnaį¹ manussÄnaį¹, who sponsor sacrifices, puƱƱapekkhÄna pÄį¹inaį¹; making worldly merit, Karotaį¹ opadhikaį¹ puƱƱaį¹, whatās given here is very fruitful.ā ettha dinnaį¹ mahapphalanāti.
