In Brief (2nd) Dutiyasaį¹…khittasutta

ā€œMendicants, there are these five faculties. ā€œPaƱcimāni, bhikkhave, indriyāni. What five? Katamāni paƱca? The faculties of faith, energy, mindfulness, immersion, and wisdom. Saddhindriyaṁ …pe… paƱƱindriyaṁ—These are the five faculties. imāni kho, bhikkhave, paƱcindriyāni.

Someone who has completed and fulfilled these five faculties is a perfected one. If they are weaker than that, they’re a non-returner … a once-returner … a stream-enterer … a follower of teachings … a follower by faith. Imesaṁ kho, bhikkhave, paƱcannaṁ indriyānaṁ samattā paripÅ«rattā arahaṁ hoti, tato mudutarehi anāgāmÄ« hoti, tato mudutarehi sakadāgāmÄ« hoti, tato mudutarehi sotāpanno hoti, tato mudutarehi dhammānusārÄ« hoti, tato mudutarehi saddhānusārÄ« hoti.

So from a disparity of faculties there’s a disparity of fruits. And from a disparity of fruits there’s a disparity of individuals.ā€ Iti kho, bhikkhave, indriyavemattatā phalavemattatā hoti, phalavemattatā puggalavemattatāā€ti.

Tatiyaṁ.
