Personal Ties Ganthasutta

ā€œMendicants, there are these four ties. ā€œCattārome, bhikkhave, ganthā. What four? Katame cattāro? The personal ties to covetousness, ill will, misapprehension of precepts and observances, and the insistence that this is the only truth. Abhijjhā kāyagantho, byāpādo kāyagantho, sÄ«labbataparāmāso kāyagantho, idaṁsaccābhiniveso kāyagantho—These are the four ties. ime kho, bhikkhave, cattāro ganthā.

The noble eightfold path should be developed for the direct knowledge, complete understanding, finishing, and giving up of these four ties.ā€ Imesaṁ kho, bhikkhave, catunnaṁ ganthānaṁ abhiƱƱāya pariƱƱāya parikkhayāya pahānāya …pe… ayaṁ ariyo aį¹į¹haį¹…giko maggo bhāvetabboā€ti.
