Provided With Pleasure Kāmūpapattisutta
This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard. Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:
“Mendicants, there are these three ways of being provided with sensual pleasures. “Tisso imā, bhikkhave, kāmūpapattiyo. What three? Katamā tisso? Some sensual pleasures are simply present; some are for those who love to create; and some are for those who control what is created by others. Paccupaṭṭhitakāmā, nimmānaratino, paranimmitavasavattino—These are the three ways of being provided with sensual pleasures.” imā kho, bhikkhave, tisso kāmūpapattiyo”ti.
The Buddha spoke this matter. Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. On this it is said: Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:
“Sensual pleasures that are simply present, “Paccupaṭṭhitakāmā ca, gods who control what is imagined by others, ye devā vasavattino; gods who love to create, Nimmānaratino devā, and others who indulge in sensual pleasures—ye caññe kāmabhogino; They go from this state to another, Itthabhāvaññathābhāvaṁ, but don’t escape transmigration. saṁsāraṁ nātivattare.
Knowing this danger Etamādīnavaṁ ñatvā, in sensual indulgence, an astute person kāmabhogesu paṇḍito; would forsake all sensual pleasures, Sabbe pariccaje kāme, both human and heavenly. ye dibbā ye ca mānusā.
Having cut the stream so hard to pass, Piyarūpasātagadhitaṁ, that’s tied to pleasant seeming things, chetvā sotaṁ duraccayaṁ; they become fully extinguished, Asesaṁ parinibbanti, completely transcending suffering. asesaṁ dukkhamaccaguṁ.
Seers of the noble truths, knowledge masters, Ariyaddasā vedaguno, the astute, understanding rightly, sammadaññāya paṇḍitā; directly know the ending of rebirth, Jātikkhayamabhiññāya, they come not back to future lives.” nāgacchanti punabbhavan”ti.
This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard. Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.
Chaṭṭhaṁ.
