Kaṇhadinna Kaṇhadinnattheragāthā

I regularly sat close by true persons “Upāsitā sappurisā, and learnt the teaching. sutā dhammā abhiṇhaso; What I learned, I practiced, Sutvāna paṭipajjissaṁ, the direct route that culminates <j>in freedom from death. añjasaṁ amatogadhaṁ.

I’ve slain the desire to be reborn, Bhavarāgahatassa me sato, it won’t be found in me again. Bhavarāgo puna me na vijjati; It was not, and it won’t be in me, Na cāhu na ca me bhavissati, and it isn’t found in me now. Na ca me etarahi vijjatī”ti.

Tassuddānaṁ

Uttaro bhaddajitthero, sobhito valliyo isi; Vītasoko ca yo thero, puṇṇamāso ca nandako; Bharato bhāradvājo ca, kaṇhadinno mahāmunīti.
