Little Hut Kuṭikāsutta

“Don’t you have a little hut? “Kacci te kuṭikā natthi, Don’t you have a little nest? kacci natthi kulāvakā; Don’t you have any networks? Kacci santānakā natthi, Aren’t you free of shackles?” kacci muttosi bandhanā”ti.

“Indeed I have no little hut. “Taggha me kuṭikā natthi, Indeed I have no little nest. taggha natthi kulāvakā; Indeed I have no networks. Taggha santānakā natthi, Indeed I’m free from shackles.” taggha muttomhi bandhanā”ti.

“What do you think I call your little hut? “Kintāhaṁ kuṭikaṁ brūmi, What do I call your little nest? kiṁ te brūmi kulāvakaṁ; What do I call your network? Kiṁ te santānakaṁ brūmi, And what do I call your shackle?” kintāhaṁ brūmi bandhanan”ti.

“You call mother a little hut; “Mātaraṁ kuṭikaṁ brūsi, and wife a little nest. bhariyaṁ brūsi kulāvakaṁ; You call children a network, Putte santānake brūsi, and you call my craving a shackle.” taṇhaṁ me brūsi bandhanan”ti.

“It’s good you have no little hut! “Sāhu te kuṭikā natthi, It’s good you have no little nest! sāhu natthi kulāvakā; It’s good you have no networks! Sāhu santānakā natthi, And good that you’re free from shackles.” sāhu muttosi bandhanā”ti.
