Affluent Mahaddhanasutta

ā€œThe affluent and the wealthy, ā€œMahaddhanā mahābhogā, even the aristocrats who rule the land, raį¹­į¹­havantopi khattiyā; are jealous of each other, AƱƱamaƱƱābhigijjhanti, insatiable in sensual pleasures. kāmesu analaį¹…katā.

Among those of such an avid nature, Tesu ussukkajātesu, flowing along the stream of lives, bhavasotānusārisu; who here has given up craving? Kedha taṇhaṁ pajahiṁsu, Who in the world is not avid?ā€ ke lokasmiṁ anussukÄā€ti.

ā€œHaving given up their home, their child, their cattle, ā€œHitvā agāraṁ pabbajitā, and all that they love, they went forth. hitvā puttaṁ pasuṁ piyaṁ; Having given up desire and hate, Hitvā rāgaƱca dosaƱca, having dispelled ignorance, avijjaƱca virājiya; the perfected ones with defilements ended—Khīṇāsavā arahanto, they in the world are not avid.ā€ te lokasmiṁ anussukÄā€ti.
