Mahāgovinda’s Conduct Mahāgovindacariya

ā€œThen again when I was ā€œPunāparaṁ yadā homi, high priest for seven kings, sattarājapurohito; I was venerated by the gods among men PÅ«jito naradevehi, as the brahmin Mahāgovinda. mahāgovindabrāhmaṇo.

Then in all seven kingdoms Tadāhaṁ sattarajjesu, what I receieved as tribute Yaṁ me āsi upāyanaṁ; I used to give a great gift Tena demi mahādānaṁ, unwavering as the ocean. Akkhobbhaṁ sāgarūpamaṁ.

It was not because I disliked riches or grain, Na me dessaṁ dhanaṁ dhaƱƱaṁ, or because I had a store set aside, Napi natthi nicayo mayi; but because omniscience is precious to me, SabbaƱƱutaṁ piyaṁ mayhaṁ, that is why I gave such fine riches.ā€ Tasmā demi varaṁ dhananā€ti.
