Stains Malasutta

ā€œMendicants, there are these three stains. ā€œTīṇimāni, bhikkhave, malāni. What three? Katamāni tīṇi? Greed, hate, and delusion. Rāgo malaṁ, doso malaṁ, moho malaṁ—These are the three stains. imāni kho, bhikkhave, tīṇi malāni.

The noble eightfold path should be developed for the direct knowledge, complete understanding, finishing, and giving up of these three stains.ā€ Imesaṁ kho, bhikkhave, tiṇṇannaṁ malānaṁ abhiƱƱāya pariƱƱāya parikkhayāya pahānāya …pe… ayaṁ ariyo aį¹­į¹­haį¹…giko maggo bhāvetabboā€ti.
