Mātaṅgaputta Mātaṅgaputtattheragāthā
“It’s too cold, too hot, “Atisītaṁ atiuṇhaṁ, too late,” they say. atisāyamidaṁ ahu; When the young neglect their work like this, Iti vissaṭṭhakammante, opportunities pass them by. khaṇā accenti māṇave.
But one who considers heat and cold Yo ca sītañca uṇhañca, as no more than blades of grass—tiṇā bhiyyo na maññati; he does his duties as a man, Karaṁ purisakiccāni, and his happiness never fails. so sukhā na vihāyati.
With my chest I’ll thrust aside Dabbaṁ kusaṁ poṭakilaṁ, the grasses, vines, and creepers, usīraṁ muñjapabbajaṁ; and foster seclusion. Urasā panudissāmi, vivekamanubrūhayan”ti.
