The Wrong Way Micchattasutta

At Sāvatthī. Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

ā€œMendicants, I will teach you the wrong way and the right way. ā€œMicchattaƱca vo, bhikkhave, desessāmi, sammattaƱca. Listen … Taṁ suṇātha.

And what is the wrong way? KatamaƱca, bhikkhave, micchattaṁ? It is wrong view, wrong thought, wrong speech, wrong action, wrong livelihood, wrong effort, wrong mindfulness, and wrong immersion. Seyyathidaṁ—micchādiį¹­į¹­hi …pe… micchāsamādhi. This is called the wrong way. Idaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, micchattaṁ.

And what is the right way? KatamaƱca, bhikkhave, sammattaṁ? It is right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right immersion. Seyyathidaṁ—sammādiį¹­į¹­hi …pe… sammāsamādhi. This is called the right way.ā€ Idaṁ vuccati, bhikkhave, sammattanā€ti.
