Mudita Muditattheragāthā

I went forth to save my life. “Pabbajiṁ jīvikatthohaṁ, But I embraced faith laddhāna upasampadaṁ; after receiving full ordination. Tato saddhaṁ paṭilabhiṁ, I strove, strong in effort: daḷhavīriyo parakkamiṁ.

gladly, let this body be broken! Kāmaṁ bhijjatuyaṁ kāyo, Let this scrap of meat disintegrate! maṁsapesī visīyaruṁ; Let both my legs fall off Ubho jaṇṇukasandhīhi, at the knees! jaṅghāyo papatantu me.

I won’t eat, I won’t drink, Nāsissaṁ na pivissāmi, I won’t leave my dwelling, vihārā ca na nikkhame; nor will I lie down on my side, Napi passaṁ nipātessaṁ, until the dart of craving is plucked. taṇhāsalle anūhate.

As I meditate like this, Tassa mevaṁ viharato, see my energy and vigor! passa vīriyaparakkamaṁ; I’ve attained the three knowledges Tisso vijjā anuppattā, and fulfilled the Buddha’s instructions. kataṁ buddhassa sāsanan”ti.

Tatruddānaṁ

Nāgasamālo bhagu ca, sabhiyo nandakopi ca; Jambuko senako thero, sambhūto rāhulopi ca.

Bhavati candano thero, dasete buddhasāvakā; Dhammiko sappako thero, mudito cāpi te tayo; Gāthāyo dve ca paññāsa, therā sabbepi terasāti.
