Floods Oghasutta

At Sāvatthī. Sāvatthinidānaṁ.

ā€œMendicants, there are these four floods. ā€œCattārome, bhikkhave, oghā. What four? Katame cattāro? The floods of sensuality, desire to be reborn, views, and ignorance. Kāmogho, bhavogho, diį¹į¹hogho, avijjogho—These are the four floods. ime kho, bhikkhave, cattāro oghā.

The noble eightfold path should be developed for the direct knowledge, complete understanding, finishing, and giving up of these four floods.ā€ Imesaṁ kho, bhikkhave, catunnaṁ oghānaṁ abhiƱƱāya pariƱƱāya parikkhayāya pahānāya …pe… ayaṁ ariyo aį¹į¹haį¹…giko maggo bhāvetabboā€ti.
