Lower Fetters Orambhāgiyasutta

ā€œMendicants, there are five lower fetters. ā€œPaƱcimāni, bhikkhave, orambhāgiyāni saṁyojanāni. What five? Katamāni paƱca? Substantialist view, doubt, misapprehension of precepts and observances, sensual desire, and ill will. Sakkāyadiį¹­į¹­hi, vicikicchā, sÄ«labbataparāmāso, kāmacchando, byāpādo—These are the five lower fetters. imāni kho, bhikkhave, paƱcorambhāgiyāni saṁyojanāni.

To give up these five lower fetters you should develop the four kinds of mindfulness meditation. ā€¦ā€ Imesaṁ kho, bhikkhave, paƱcannaṁ orambhāgiyānaṁ saṁyojanānaṁ pahānāya …pe… ime cattāro satipaį¹­į¹­hānā bhāvetabbÄā€ti.
