“Mendicants, there are these four perils. “Cattārimāni, bhikkhave, bhayāni. What four? Katamāni cattāri? The perils of rebirth, old age, sickness, and death. Jātibhayaṁ, jarābhayaṁ, byādhibhayaṁ, maraṇabhayaṁ—

These are the four perils.” Imāni kho, bhikkhave, cattāri bhayānī”ti.
