Oneās Own Welfare Paį¹hamahitasutta
āMendicants, a mendicant with five qualities is practicing for their own welfare, but not that of others. āPaƱcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannÄgato bhikkhu attahitÄya paį¹ipanno hoti, no parahitÄya. What five? Katamehi paƱcahi? Itās when a mendicant is personally accomplished in ethics, immersion, wisdom, freedom, and the knowledge and vision of freedom. But they donāt encourage others in these qualities. Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu attanÄ sÄ«lasampanno hoti, no paraį¹ sÄ«lasampadÄya samÄdapeti; attanÄ samÄdhisampanno hoti, no paraį¹ samÄdhisampadÄya samÄdapeti; attanÄ paƱƱÄsampanno hoti, no paraį¹ paƱƱÄsampadÄya samÄdapeti; attanÄ vimuttisampanno hoti, no paraį¹ vimuttisampadÄya samÄdapeti; attanÄ vimuttiƱÄį¹adassanasampanno hoti, no paraį¹ vimuttiƱÄį¹adassanasampadÄya samÄdapeti. A mendicant with these five qualities is practicing for their own welfare, but not that of others.ā Imehi kho, bhikkhave, paƱcahi aį¹ gehi samannÄgato bhikkhu attahitÄya paį¹ipanno hoti, no parahitÄyÄāti.
