Valuing Anger Paį¹­hamakodhagarusutta

ā€œMendicants, these four individuals are found in the world. ā€œCattārome, bhikkhave, puggalā santo saṁvijjamānā lokasmiṁ. What four? Katame cattāro? People who value anger, or denigration, or material things, or honor rather than the true teaching. Kodhagaru na saddhammagaru, makkhagaru na saddhammagaru, lābhagaru na saddhammagaru, sakkāragaru na saddhammagaru. These are the four individuals found in the world. Ime kho, bhikkhave, cattāro puggalā santo saṁvijjamānā lokasmiṁ.

These four individuals are found in the world. Cattārome, bhikkhave, puggalā santo saṁvijjamānā lokasmiṁ. What four? Katame cattāro? People who value the true teaching rather than anger, or denigration, or material things, or honor. Saddhammagaru na kodhagaru, saddhammagaru na makkhagaru, saddhammagaru na lābhagaru, saddhammagaru na sakkāragaru. These are the four individuals found in the world. Ime kho, bhikkhave, cattāro puggalā santo saṁvijjamānā lokasminti.

Mendicants who value anger and denigration, KodhamakkhagarÅ« bhikkhÅ«, possessions and honor, lābhasakkāragāravā; don’t grow in the teaching Na te dhamme virÅ«hanti, that was taught by the perfected Buddha. sammāsambuddhadesite.

But those who value the true teaching, Ye ca saddhammagaruno, who have lived it, and are living it now, vihaṁsu viharanti ca; these do grow in the teaching Te ve dhamme virÅ«hanti, that was taught by the perfected Buddha.ā€ sammāsambuddhadesiteā€ti.
