With Pajjunna’s Daughter (1st) Paį¹hamapajjunnadhÄ«tusutta

So I have heard. Evaṁ me sutaṁ—At one time the Buddha was staying near VesālÄ«, at the Great Wood, in the hall with the peaked roof. ekaṁ samayaṁ bhagavā vesāliyaṁ viharati mahāvane kūṭāgārasālāyaṁ.

Then, late at night, the glorious Kokanadā, Pajjunna’s daughter, lighting up the entire Great Wood, went up to the Buddha, bowed, stood to one side, Atha kho kokanadā pajjunnassa dhÄ«tā abhikkantāya rattiyā abhikkantavaṇṇā kevalakappaṁ mahāvanaṁ obhāsetvā yena bhagavā tenupasaį¹…kami; upasaį¹…kamitvā bhagavantaṁ abhivādetvā ekamantaṁ aį¹į¹hāsi. and recited these verses in the Buddha’s presence: Ekamantaṁ į¹hitā kho sā devatā kokanadā pajjunnassa dhÄ«tā bhagavato santike imā gāthāyo abhāsi:

ā€œStaying in the woods of VesālÄ« ā€œVesāliyaṁ vane viharantaṁ, is the Buddha, best of creation. Aggaṁ sattassa sambuddhaṁ; Kokanadā am I who worships him, Kokanadāhamasmi abhivande, Kokanadā, Pajjuna’s daughter. Kokanadā pajjunnassa dhÄ«tā.

Previously I had only heard Sutameva pure āsi, the teaching realized by the Clear-eyed One. Dhammo cakkhumatānubuddho; But now I know it as a witness Sāhaṁ dāni sakkhi jānāmi, while the sage, the Holy One teaches. Munino desayato sugatassa.

There are simpletons who go about Ye keci ariyaṁ dhammaṁ, denouncing the teaching of the noble ones. Vigarahantā caranti dummedhā; They fall into the terrible Hell of Screams Upenti roruvaṁ ghoraṁ, where they suffer long. Cirarattaṁ dukkhaṁ anubhavanti.

There are those who have found <j>acceptance and peace Ye ca kho ariye dhamme, in the teaching of the noble ones. Khantiyā upasamena upetā; After giving up this human body, Pahāya mānusaṁ dehaṁ, they swell the hosts of gods.ā€ Devakāyaṁ paripÅ«ressantÄ«ā€ti.
