Eight Individuals (1st) Paį¹hamapuggalasutta
āMendicants, these eight individuals are worthy of offerings dedicated to the gods, worthy of hospitality, worthy of a religious donation, worthy of greeting with joined palms, and are the supreme field of merit for the world. āAį¹į¹hime, bhikkhave, puggalÄ ÄhuneyyÄ pÄhuneyyÄ dakkhiį¹eyyÄ aƱjalikaraį¹Ä«yÄ anuttaraį¹ puƱƱakkhettaį¹ lokassa? What eight? Katame aį¹į¹ha? The stream-enterer and the one practicing to realize the fruit of stream-entry. The once-returner and the one practicing to realize the fruit of once-return. The non-returner and the one practicing to realize the fruit of non-return. The perfected one, and the one practicing for perfection. For humans, those merit-seeking creatures, YajamÄnÄnaį¹ manussÄnaį¹, who sponsor sacrifices, PuƱƱapekkhÄna pÄį¹inaį¹; making worldly merit, Karotaį¹ opadhikaį¹ puƱƱaį¹, what is given to the Saį¹ gha is very fruitful.ā Saį¹ ghe dinnaį¹ mahapphalanāti.
