Practicing Paį¹ipannasutta
āMendicants, there are these five faculties. āPaƱcimÄni, bhikkhave, indriyÄni. What five? KatamÄni paƱca? The faculties of faith, energy, mindfulness, immersion, and wisdom. Saddhindriyaį¹ ā¦pe⦠paƱƱindriyaį¹āThese are the five faculties. imÄni kho, bhikkhave, paƱcindriyÄni.
Someone who has completed and fulfilled these five faculties is a perfected one. If they are weaker than that, theyāre practicing to realize the fruit of perfection ⦠a non-returner ⦠practicing to realize the fruit of non-return ⦠a once-returner ⦠practicing to realize the fruit of once-return ⦠a stream-enterer ⦠practicing to realize the fruit of stream-entry. Imesaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, paƱcannaį¹ indriyÄnaį¹ samattÄ paripÅ«rattÄ arahaį¹ hoti, tato mudutarehi arahattaphalasacchikiriyÄya paį¹ipanno hoti, tato mudutarehi anÄgÄmÄ« hoti, tato mudutarehi anÄgÄmiphalasacchikiriyÄya paį¹ipanno hoti, tato mudutarehi sakadÄgÄmÄ« hoti, tato mudutarehi sakadÄgÄmiphalasacchikiriyÄya paį¹ipanno hoti, tato mudutarehi sotÄpanno hoti, tato mudutarehi sotÄpattiphalasacchikiriyÄya paį¹ipanno hoti. Someone who totally and utterly lacks these five faculties is an outsider who belongs with the ordinary persons, I say.ā Yassa kho, bhikkhave, imÄni paƱcindriyÄni sabbena sabbaį¹ sabbathÄ sabbaį¹ natthi, tamahaį¹ ābÄhiro puthujjanapakkhe į¹hitoāti vadÄmÄ«āti.
