It was welcome, not unwelcome, “Svāgataṁ na durāgataṁ, the advice I got was good. Nayidaṁ dumantitaṁ mama; Of the well-explained teachings, Saṁvibhattesu dhammesu, I arrived at the best. Yaṁ seṭṭhaṁ tadupāgamin”ti.

That is how this verse was recited by the senior venerable Pilindavaccha. Itthaṁ sudaṁ āyasmā pilindavaccho thero gāthaṁ abhāsitthāti.
