I am known as “Fortunate Rāhula”, “Ubhayeneva sampanno, because I’m accomplished in both ways: rāhulabhaddoti maṁ vidū; I am the son of the Buddha, Yañcamhi putto buddhassa, whose eye sees clearly in all things. yañca dhammesu cakkhumā.

Since my defilements have ended, Yañca me āsavā khīṇā, since there are no more future lives—yañca natthi punabbhavo; I’m perfected, worthy of offerings, Arahā dakkhiṇeyyomhi, master of the three knowledges, <j>seer of freedom from death. tevijjo amataddaso.

Blinded by sensual pleasures, trapped in a net, Kāmandhā jālapacchannā, they are smothered over by craving; taṇhāchādanachāditā; bound by the kinsman of the negligent, Pamattabandhunā baddhā, like a fish caught in a funnel-net trap. macchāva kumināmukhe.

Having thrown off those sensual pleasures, Taṁ kāmaṁ ahamujjhitvā, having cut Māra’s bond, chetvā mārassa bandhanaṁ; and having plucked out craving, root and all: Samūlaṁ taṇhamabbuyha, I’m cooled, quenched. sītibhūtosmi nibbuto”ti.
