Delightful Rāmaṇeyyakasutta

Near Sāvatthī in Jeta’s Grove. Sāvatthiyaṁ jetavane.

And then Sakka, lord of gods, went up to the Buddha, bowed, stood to one side, and said to him, Atha kho sakko devānamindo yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṁ abhivādetvā ekamantaṁ aṭṭhāsi. Ekamantaṁ ṭhito kho sakko devānamindo bhagavantaṁ etadavoca: “Sir, what is a delightful place?” “kiṁ nu kho, bhante, bhūmirāmaṇeyyakan”ti?

“Shrines in parks and forests, “Ārāmacetyā vanacetyā, well-made lotus ponds, pokkharañño sunimmitā; are not worth a sixteenth part Manussarāmaṇeyyassa, of a delightful human being. kalaṁ nāgghanti soḷasiṁ.

Whether in village or wilderness, Gāme vā yadi vāraññe, in a valley or the uplands, Ninne vā yadi vā thale; wherever the perfected ones live Yattha arahanto viharanti, is a delightful place.” Taṁ bhūmirāmaṇeyyakan”ti.
