Sights, Etc. Rūpasutta
At Sāvatthī. Sāvatthiyaṁ viharati.
“What do you think, Rāhula? “Taṁ kiṁ maññasi, rāhula, Are sights permanent or impermanent?” rūpā niccā vā aniccā vā”ti?
“Impermanent, sir.” … “Aniccā, bhante” …pe… “… sounds … saddā … smells … gandhā … tastes … rasā … touches … phoṭṭhabbā … Are ideas permanent or impermanent?” dhammā niccā vā aniccā vā”ti?
“Impermanent, sir.” … “Aniccā, bhante” …
“Seeing this, a learned noble disciple grows disillusioned with sights, sounds, smells, tastes, touches, and ideas. “evaṁ passaṁ, rāhula, sutavā ariyasāvako rūpesupi nibbindati … saddesupi nibbindati … gandhesupi nibbindati … rasesupi nibbindati … phoṭṭhabbesupi nibbindati … dhammesupi nibbindati; Being disillusioned, desire fades away. …” nibbindaṁ virajjati …pe… pajānātī”ti.
