This two-legged body is dirty and stinking, “Dvipādakoyaṁ asuci, full of different carcasses, duggandho parihīrati; and oozing all over the place—Nānākuṇapaparipūro, but still it is cherished! vissavanto tato tato.

Like a lurking deer by a trick, Migaṁ nilīnaṁ kūṭena, like a fish by a hook, baḷiseneva ambujaṁ; like a langur by tar—Vānaraṁ viya lepena, they trap an ordinary person. bādhayanti puthujjanaṁ.

Sights, sounds, tastes, smells, Rūpā saddā rasā gandhā, and touches so delightful: phoṭṭhabbā ca manoramā; these five kinds of sensual stimulation Pañca kāmaguṇā ete, are seen in a woman’s body. itthirūpasmi dissare.

Those ordinary people, their minds full of lust, Ye etā upasevanti, who pursue those women: rattacittā puthujjanā; they swell the horrors of the charnel ground, Vaḍḍhenti kaṭasiṁ ghoraṁ, piling up future lives. ācinanti punabbhavaṁ.

One who, being mindful, Yo cetā parivajjeti, avoids them sappasseva padā siro; like a snake’s head with their foot, Somaṁ visattikaṁ loke, gets over clinging to the world. sato samativattati.

Seeing the danger in sensual pleasures, Kāmesvādīnavaṁ disvā, seeing renunciation as sanctuary, nekkhammaṁ daṭṭhu khemato; I’ve escaped all sensual pleasures, Nissaṭo sabbakāmehi, and attained the ending of defilements. patto me āsavakkhayo”ti.
