Sakka In Name Only Sakkanāmasutta
At one time the Buddha was staying near Rājagaha, on the Vulture’s Peak Mountain. Ekaṁ samayaṁ bhagavā rājagahe viharati gijjhakūṭe pabbate.
Then a spirit who was Sakka in name only went up to the Buddha, and addressed him in verse: Atha kho sakkanāmako yakkho yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṁ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi:
“You’ve given up all ties, “Sabbaganthappahīnassa, and are fully freed. vippamuttassa te sato; It’s not a good idea for you, ascetic, Samaṇassa na taṁ sādhu, to be instructing others.” yadaññamanusāsasī”ti.
“No matter how you explain why “Yena kenaci vaṇṇena, people gather together, Sakka, saṁvāso sakka jāyati; it’s unworthy for a wise person Na taṁ arahati sappañño, not to think of the other with sympathy. manasā anukampituṁ.
If you instruct others Manasā ce pasannena, with a mind clear and confident, yadaññamanusāsati; your compassion and empathy Na tena hoti saṁyutto, don’t create attachments.” yānukampā anuddayā”ti.
