Sakulā Sakulātherīgāthā
While staying at home “Agārasmiṁ vasantīhaṁ, I heard the teaching from a monk. dhammaṁ sutvāna bhikkhuno; I saw the stainless Dhamma, Addasaṁ virajaṁ dhammaṁ, extinguishment, the state that does not pass. nibbānaṁ padamaccutaṁ.
Leaving behind my son and my daughter, Sāhaṁ puttaṁ dhītarañca, my riches and my grain, dhanadhaññañca chaḍḍiya; I had my hair cut off, Kese chedāpayitvāna, and went forth to homelessness. pabbajiṁ anagāriyaṁ.
As a trainee nun, Sikkhamānā ahaṁ santī, I developed the direct path. bhāventī maggamañjasaṁ; I gave up greed and hate, Pahāsiṁ rāgadosañca, along with associated defilements. tadekaṭṭhe ca āsave.
When I was fully ordained as a nun, Bhikkhunī upasampajja, I recollected my past lives, pubbajātimanussariṁ; and purified my clairvoyance, Dibbacakkhu visodhitaṁ, immaculate and fully developed. vimalaṁ sādhubhāvitaṁ.
Conditions are born of causes, crumbling; Saṅkhāre parato disvā, having seen them as other, hetujāte palokite; I gave up all defilements, Pahāsiṁ āsave sabbe, I’m cooled and quenched. sītibhūtāmhi nibbutā”ti.
