I gave up my home, my child, my cattle, “Hitvā ghare pabbajitvā, and all that I love, and went forth. hitvā puttaṁ pasuṁ piyaṁ; And now that I’ve given up desire and hate, Hitvā rāgañca dosañca, dispelled ignorance, avijjañca virājiya; and plucked out craving, root and all, Samūlaṁ taṇhamabbuyha, I’m at peace, I’m quenched. upasantāmhi nibbutā”ti.
