“Mendicants, there are ten fetters. “Dasayimāni, bhikkhave, saṁyojanāni. What ten? Katamāni dasa? The five lower fetters and the five higher fetters. Pañcorambhāgiyāni saṁyojanāni, pañcuddhambhāgiyāni saṁyojanāni. What are the five lower fetters? Katamāni pañcorambhāgiyāni saṁyojanāni? Substantialist view, doubt, misapprehension of precepts and observances, sensual desire, and ill will. Sakkāyadiṭṭhi, vicikicchā, sīlabbataparāmāso, kāmacchando, byāpādo—These are the five lower fetters. imāni pañcorambhāgiyāni saṁyojanāni.

Desire for rebirth in the realm of luminous form, desire for rebirth in the formless realm, conceit, restlessness, and ignorance.
