This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard. Vuttañhetaṁ bhagavatā vuttamarahatāti me sutaṁ:

“Mendicants, there are these three kinds of purity. “Tīṇimāni, bhikkhave, soceyyāni. What three? Katamāni tīṇi? Purity of body, speech, and mind. Kāyasoceyyaṁ, vacīsoceyyaṁ, manosoceyyaṁ—These are the three kinds of purity.” imāni kho, bhikkhave, tīṇi soceyyānī”ti.

The Buddha spoke this matter. Etamatthaṁ bhagavā avoca. On this it is said: Tatthetaṁ iti vuccati:

“Purity of body, purity of speech, “Kāyasuciṁ vacīsuciṁ, and undefiled purity of heart. cetosucimanāsavaṁ; A pure one, blessed with purity, Suciṁ soceyyasampannaṁ, has given up everything, they say.” āhu sabbappahāyinan”ti.

This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard. Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.
