Purity Soceyyasutta
This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard. VuttaƱhetaį¹ bhagavatÄ vuttamarahatÄti me sutaį¹:
āMendicants, there are these three kinds of purity. āTÄ«į¹imÄni, bhikkhave, soceyyÄni. What three? KatamÄni tÄ«į¹i? Purity of body, speech, and mind. KÄyasoceyyaį¹, vacÄ«soceyyaį¹, manosoceyyaį¹āThese are the three kinds of purity.ā imÄni kho, bhikkhave, tÄ«į¹i soceyyÄnÄ«āti.
The Buddha spoke this matter. Etamatthaį¹ bhagavÄ avoca. On this it is said: Tatthetaį¹ iti vuccati:
āPurity of body, purity of speech, āKÄyasuciį¹ vacÄ«suciį¹, and undefiled purity of heart. cetosucimanÄsavaį¹; A pure one, blessed with purity, Suciį¹ soceyyasampannaį¹, has given up everything, they say.ā Ähu sabbappahÄyinanāti.
This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard. Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatÄ, iti me sutanti.
