Soṇapoṭiriya Soṇapoṭiriyattheragāthā

Night, with her garland of stars, “Na tāva supituṁ hoti, is not only for sleeping. ratti nakkhattamālinī; For those who know, Paṭijaggitumevesā, this night is really for waking. ratti hoti vijānatā”.

Were I to fall from the back of an elephant, “Hatthikkhandhāvapatitaṁ, trampled by the tuskers that follow, kuñjaro ce anukkame; better for me to die in battle, Saṅgāme me mataṁ seyyo, than to live on in defeat. yañce jīve parājito”ti.
