I saw the supreme man “Disvā pāsādachāyāyaṁ, walking mindfully in the shade of the terrace, caṅkamantaṁ naruttamaṁ; so I approached, Tattha naṁ upasaṅkamma, and bowed to the supreme among men. vandissaṁ purisuttamaṁ.

Arranging my robe over one shoulder Ekaṁsaṁ cīvaraṁ katvā, and clasping my hands together, saṁharitvāna pāṇayo; I walked alongside that stainless one, Anucaṅkamissaṁ virajaṁ, supreme among all beings. sabbasattānamuttamaṁ.

The wise one, expert in questions, Tato pañhe apucchi maṁ, questioned me. pañhānaṁ kovido vidū; Brave and fearless, Acchambhī ca abhīto ca, I answered the teacher. byākāsiṁ satthuno ahaṁ.

When all his questions were answered, Vissajjitesu pañhesu, the Realized One congratulated me. anumodi tathāgato; Looking around the mendicant Saṅgha, Bhikkhusaṅghaṁ viloketvā, he said the following: imamatthaṁ abhāsatha.

“It is a blessing for the people of Aṅga and Magadha ‘Lābhā aṅgānaṁ magadhānaṁ, that this person enjoys their Yesāyaṁ paribhuñjati; robe and almsfood, Cīvaraṁ piṇḍapātañca, requisites and lodgings, Paccayaṁ sayanāsanaṁ; their respect and service—Paccuṭṭhānañca sāmīciṁ, it’s a blessing for them,” he declared. Tesaṁ lābhāti cābravi.

“Sopāka, from this day on Ajjatagge maṁ sopāka, you are invited to come and see me. dassanāyopasaṅkama; And Sopāka, let this Esā ceva te sopāka, be your ordination.” bhavatu upasampadā’.

At seven years old Jātiyā sattavassohaṁ, I received ordination. laddhāna upasampadaṁ; I bear my final body—Dhāremi antimaṁ dehaṁ, oh, the clear rightness of the teaching! aho dhammasudhammatā”ti.
