An Expert in the Monastic Law (3rd) Tatiyavinayadharasutta
āMendicants, a mendicant with seven qualities is an expert in the monastic law. āSattahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannÄgato bhikkhu vinayadharo hoti. What seven? Katamehi sattahi? They know what is an offense. Äpattiį¹ jÄnÄti, They know what is not an offense. anÄpattiį¹ jÄnÄti, They know what is a light offense. lahukaį¹ Äpattiį¹ jÄnÄti, They know what is a serious offense. garukaį¹ Äpattiį¹ jÄnÄti, Theyāre firm and unfaltering in the training. vinaye kho pana į¹hito hoti asaį¹hÄ«ro, They get the four absorptionsāblissful meditations in this life that belong to the higher mindāwhen they want, without trouble or difficulty. catunnaį¹ jhÄnÄnaį¹ ÄbhicetasikÄnaį¹ diį¹į¹hadhammasukhavihÄrÄnaį¹ nikÄmalÄbhÄ« hoti akicchalÄbhÄ« akasiralÄbhÄ«, They realize the undefiled freedom of heart and freedom by wisdom in this very life, and live having realized it with their own insight due to the ending of defilements. ÄsavÄnaį¹ khayÄ anÄsavaį¹ cetovimuttiį¹ paƱƱÄvimuttiį¹ diį¹į¹heva dhamme sayaį¹ abhiĆ±Ć±Ä sacchikatvÄ upasampajja viharati.
