Vijayā Vijayātherīgāthā

Four or five times “Catukkhattuṁ pañcakkhattuṁ, I left my dwelling; vihārā upanikkhamiṁ; I had failed to find peace of heart, Aladdhā cetaso santiṁ, or any control over my mind. citte avasavattinī.

I approached a nun Bhikkhuniṁ upasaṅkamma, and politely questioned her. sakkaccaṁ paripucchahaṁ; She taught me the Dhamma: Sā me dhammamadesesi, the elements and sense fields, dhātuāyatanāni ca.

the four noble truths, Cattāri ariyasaccāni, the faculties and the powers, indriyāni balāni ca; the awakening factors, and the eightfold path Bojjhaṅgaṭṭhaṅgikaṁ maggaṁ, for the attainment of the highest goal. uttamatthassa pattiyā.

After hearing her words, Tassāhaṁ vacanaṁ sutvā, I did her bidding. karontī anusāsaniṁ; In the first watch of the night, Rattiyā purime yāme, I recollected my past lives. pubbajātimanussariṁ.

In the middle watch of the night, Rattiyā majjhime yāme, I purified my clairvoyance. dibbacakkhuṁ visodhayiṁ; In the last watch of the night, Rattiyā pacchime yāme, I shattered the mass of darkness. tamokhandhaṁ padālayiṁ.

I then meditated pervading my body Pītisukhena ca kāyaṁ, with rapture and bliss. Pharitvā vihariṁ tadā; On the seventh day I stretched out my feet, Sattamiyā pāde pasāresiṁ, having shattered the mass of darkness. Tamokhandhaṁ padāliyā”ti.
