Once hard to tame, now tamed himself; “Yo duddamiyo damena danto, a hero, content, with doubt overcome; Vīro santusito vitiṇṇakaṅkho; victorious, with goosebumps vanished, Vijitāvī apetalomahaṁso, Vīra is steadfast, and has become fully quenched. Vīro so parinibbuto ṭhitatto”ti.

That is how this verse was recited by the senior venerable Vīra. Itthaṁ sudaṁ āyasmā vīro thero gāthaṁ abhāsitthāti.
