“What’s the best of things that rise? “Kiṁsu uppatataṁ seṭṭhaṁ, And what’s the finest thing to fall? kiṁsu nipatataṁ varaṁ; And what of the things that go forth? Kiṁsu pavajamānānaṁ, And who’s the finest speaker?” kiṁsu pavadataṁ varan”ti.

“A seed’s the best of things that rise. “Bījaṁ uppatataṁ seṭṭhaṁ, Rain’s the finest thing to fall. vuṭṭhi nipatataṁ varā; Cattle, of things that go forth. Gāvo pavajamānānaṁ, And a child is the finest speaker.” putto pavadataṁ varo”ti.

“Knowledge is best of things that rise. “Vijjā uppatataṁ seṭṭhā, Ignorance the finest thing to fall. avijjā nipatataṁ varā; The Saṅgha, of things that go forth. Saṅgho pavajamānānaṁ, And the Buddha is the finest speaker.” buddho pavadataṁ varo”ti.
