Yasadatta Yasadattattheragāthā
With fault-finding mind, the simpleton “Upārambhacitto dummedho, listens to the victor’s instruction. suṇāti jinasāsanaṁ; They’re as far from the true teaching Ārakā hoti saddhammā, as the earth is from the sky. nabhaso pathavī yathā.
With fault-finding mind, the simpleton Upārambhacitto dummedho, listens to the victor’s instruction. suṇāti jinasāsanaṁ; They fall away from the true teaching, Parihāyati saddhammā, like the moon in the waning fortnight. kāḷapakkheva candimā.
With fault-finding mind, the simpleton Upārambhacitto dummedho, listens to the victor’s instruction. suṇāti jinasāsanaṁ; They wither away in the true teaching, Parisussati saddhamme, like a fish in a little puddle. maccho appodake yathā.
With fault-finding mind, the simpleton Upārambhacitto dummedho, listens to the victor’s instruction. suṇāti jinasāsanaṁ; They don’t thrive in the true teaching, Na virūhati saddhamme, like a rotten seed in a field. khette bījaṁva pūtikaṁ.
But one with contented mind Yo ca tuṭṭhena cittena, who listens to the victor’s instruction—suṇāti jinasāsanaṁ; having wiped out all defilements; Khepetvā āsave sabbe, having witnessed the unshakable; sacchikatvā akuppataṁ; having arrived at ultimate peace—Pappuyya paramaṁ santiṁ, the undefiled are fully extinguished.” parinibbātināsavo”ti.
