āMendicants, when what exists, because of grasping what, do pleasure and pain arise in oneself?ā āKismiį¹ nu kho, bhikkhave, sati, kiį¹ upÄdÄya uppajjati ajjhattaį¹ sukhadukkhanāti?

āWhen form exists, because of grasping form, pleasure and pain arise in oneself. ārÅ«pe kho, bhikkhave, sati rÅ«paį¹ upÄdÄya uppajjati ajjhattaį¹ sukhadukkhaį¹. When feeling ⦠VedanÄya sati ā¦pe⦠perception ⦠saƱƱÄya sati ⦠choices ⦠saį¹ khÄresu sati ⦠consciousness exists, because of grasping consciousness, pleasure and pain arise in oneself. viƱƱÄį¹e sati viƱƱÄį¹aį¹ upÄdÄya uppajjati ajjhattaį¹ sukhadukkhaį¹.

āBut by not grasping whatās impermanent, suffering, and perishable, would pleasure and pain arise in oneself?ā āYaį¹ panÄniccaį¹ dukkhaį¹ vipariį¹Ämadhammaį¹, api nu taį¹ anupÄdÄya uppajjeyya ajjhattaį¹ sukhadukkhanāti?
